Life looked bleak for the children of Israel. During the lifetime of Joseph they had enjoyed freedom and leadership in Egypt, but now, under the rule of a new pharaoh, they were subjected to subservience and bondage. God, however, was not going to leave His people to suffer forever. He protected and raised a man whom He would use to lead the Israelites out of bondage.
